How it works
The same four steps, every matter. Each one takes a minute and builds the record for the next.
Record the parties, court and bench once. Everything else hangs off the case.
Court and judge are filled in from the case. Reminders start from your firm's defaults.
Proceedings, directions, the next date and follow-up tasks are saved together, straight after the hearing.
The case timeline shows every hearing, order, task, deadline, note and document in order.
Security and privacy
Client confidentiality is a professional duty. The product is designed around it rather than adding it on.
Every query is limited to your organization. Another firm's records are not just hidden; to their users they do not exist.
What a lawyer, associate or staff member can do is enforced by the API on every request, not by hiding buttons.
Files have no public link. They are checked on upload, stored privately and released only to signed-in members, and each download is logged.
A rescheduled or adjourned hearing is never overwritten. The original stays on record, linked to the new date.
AI notes may only state facts they can trace to a case record, and anything they cannot trace is removed. Drafts mark unverified provisions for you to check instead of inventing citations.
Nobody receives a WhatsApp message until they add their number and agree. Clients only after you record their consent. Anyone can opt out by replying STOP.
Legal dates are yours to verify. Lawyer Diary records and reminds; it does not calculate or certify limitation periods. Every legally significant date is flagged until a lawyer confirms it.
FAQ
Short, direct answers about how the product behaves.
No. You enter every date yourself. Filing, reply, rejoinder, limitation, compliance and court-directed dates stay marked “Needs lawyer verification” until a lawyer or the owner confirms them, and changing the date asks for verification again.
Staff can view cases and schedule, record and upload, but cannot create, edit or delete cases. Diary entries are personal: only the author and the organization owner can read them. Tasks and events can be marked private.
The original hearing is kept exactly as it was, marked as rescheduled with your reason, and a new hearing is created and linked to it. The same applies to adjournments, so the full chain of listings is always visible.
PDF, Word, Excel, OpenDocument, RTF, text, JPG and PNG, up to 25 MB each by default. A file whose contents do not match its extension is refused.
As notifications inside the app, and by email as well when your administrator has set up email delivery and you have left email reminders switched on in your profile.
It is instructed not to, and Lawyer Diary checks the result. In hearing notes every statement of fact must cite a case record, and statements that cannot be traced are removed before you see the notes; missing information is listed instead of guessed. In drafts, provisions and authorities you did not supply are left as [VERIFY] markers. Always review AI output before relying on it.
Only what the task needs: case details, hearing history, deadlines, your notes and the text of uploaded orders for hearing notes; case, party and hearing details plus your instructions for drafts. Client phone numbers and email addresses are never sent. Keys stay on the server.
No. AI drafts stay marked as drafts until a lawyer approves them, and nothing is sent to a court, client or opposing party by Lawyer Diary. You export the document and decide what to do with it.
Lawyers and staff who have added their WhatsApp number and consented in their settings, and clients whose consent you have recorded. Each person chooses which reminders they want, and replying STOP stops them.
The owner invites them by email from the Team page and chooses their role. The invitation link works once and expires after seven days.
Set up your organization, add your first case and schedule its next hearing in a few minutes.
